Seven Psychopaths Trailer

Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges is one of my favourite films of all time, so I’ve been looking forward to his followup for quite a while. It was exciting enough to hear the title (Seven Psychopaths) and see the cast come together (Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Tom Waits, and so on). But watching this trailer puts me over the edge in terms of my anticipation. While I don’t think it will have the element of surprise that In Bruges did when I saw that back in 2008, Seven Pyschopaths still promises to be a darkly twisted comedy with sharp dialogue and – perhaps best of all – an original story.

The film centres around aspiring screenwriter Marty (Colin Farrell), and his best friend Billy (Sam Rockwell), who kidnaps dogs for a living. Now kidnapping dogs from wealthy families Read the rest of this entry

Deadfall Trailer

Who doesn’t want a little cutthroat Eric Bana in their life? Bana, playing lead character Addison, looks to have personified gutless desperate killer for Deadfall. Unfortunately his plan of escaping to Canada with fat stacks of cash and sister/accomplice Liza (Olivia Wilde) suffers an abrupt karma-like accident. The result is a lot of lies to suck in locals, trick police and buy time, all culminating in what is sure to be an intense showdown and climax to this thriller.

Being a guy it’s hard to not just gawk at Olivia Wilde and let her continue on as a terrible actress, ignoring any improvement made since those glorious days Read the rest of this entry

Chasing Mavericks Trailer

There are but a chosen few with the courage, skill, and maybe the stupidity to take on the full force of what the ocean can create, take on the biggest, most vicious waves and live to ride another day. When failure can easily mean death, you better be sure you’re ready for how heavy things get in the world of big wave surfing.

The true story of Jay Moriarty played by Jonny Weston so obviously wants more than the hand he was dealt and upon seeing the monster that is Read the rest of this entry

Red Dawn Trailer

Don’t be deceived. Chris Hemsworth isn’t as busy as he appears to be these days. Really they’re just now getting around to releasing movies he made a while ago, before Thor happened. Cabin in the Woods, out earlier this year, was filmed back in 2009. And this next one, Red Dawn, was shot in 2010.

Red Dawn is basically a remake of the 1984 movie of the same name that brought the Cold War to American soil and really freaked Read the rest of this entry

The Bourne Legacy

The Bourne trilogy, starring Matt Damon and based on the novels written by Robert Ludlum, is excellent. Unfortunately, the Bourne Legacy – fourth installment in the franchise and arguably the last of this summer’s real blockbusters – doesn’t measure up.

Taking place at the same time as The Bourne Ultimatum, the Bourne Legacy begins as the powers that be in CIA boardrooms decide to shut down their black ops programs and terminate all their field agents. Jeremy Renner plays one such agent Read the rest of this entry
